Matt Smith is a Seattle based writer, actor, improviser, teacher and solo performance artist. He has been a member of TransFormance Theatre since 1994.

He was a frequent guest artist with KING TV’s Almost Live, where he portrayed ‘Chuck’ on Nature Walk with Chuck. His screen credits include The Good Egg, Money Buys Happiness,Whiteface, Sleepless in Seattle, and Spiderman. His solo works, all written by Matt and directed by Bret Fetzer, include My Last Year with the Nuns, Helium, and Beyond Kindness: A Child-care Guide. Matt founded Stark/Raving Theatre with Edward Sampson in 1988. Together they created and performed five plays.

As artistic director of Seattle TheatreSports in 1985, a founding member of Seattle Improv, and a longtime teacher at Freehold Studio Lab in Seattle, Matt has taught thousands of people to improvise. He is also a celebrated fundraising auctioneer, and designs and leads unique workshops for corporations and government agencies.
