Dear Jonathan,
On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Leadership Institute of Seattle, I would like to thank you, Matt, Ed and Anya for a truly incredible and rich experience at our retreat. The feedback from staff and faculty has been positive and powerful.
I appreciate the time you took with me and our President’s Council, prior to the retreat, to help us prioritize and clarify the issues that we wanted to address at the retreat, through the TransFormance Theatre process. Thank you also for the time spent interviewing those people who told their stories. I think it was a validating experience for them.
The TransFormance Theatre process itself was both intensely personal as well as organizationally effective. It blended well with our own mission and teaching at LIOS, of bringing the ‘self’ to all that we do at work and in our lives. It assisted us to look at core and difficult issues in the organization at great depth in a safe environment. We settled many of our issues and clarified others. People felt heard, acknowledged and honored. There is considerable healing and movement occurring at LIOS since the retreat, as a result of the work you did with us. Your particular methods utilizing story, music and rhythm enabled our system to move beyond the familiar stuck places into an entirely new way of being with each other.
As you know, organizational consulting is a core part of our teaching and our work. Both faculty and staff are interested in continuing a dialogue about how we can collaborate in using this process here at the school, and out in our work as consultants with organizations. I look forward to more conversation about this.
I am enclosing the tapes of the retreat. I have not had time to review them yet. I hope they capture some of the power of this process.
Will talk to you soon.
Sincerely,
BRENDA J. KERR
President
